Presentation: Pump Organ Music, 1 p.m. Saturday

Organ music history and hymns will be presented by Lynne Eide.

The image to the left is of a 1909 pump organ,  originally purchased for $55 from Sears, Roebuck and Co, and similar to the pump organ at the CLC.

Throughout the Tour

We will have quilts on display during the tour as well as docent lead tours.

There will be hands on opportunities to see and participate in some part of quilt making.  Activities demonstrated and available to participants are; cut a quilt square, sewing, and put a tie into a quilt.

CLC Quilters make quilts given to Lutheran World Relief.

The History of Quilting at CLC

In 1906 Camano Lutheran Church at the time of the dedication had an active Ladies Aid, evolved from an earlier “Sewing Society” with Mrs. Lars Land, president, Mrs. Elias Land, secretary-treasurer.

Previously, the Aid organized in 1896 with the following “Mrs.” as charter members: J.P. Larson, Emma Graham, Sivert Johnson, K.P. Frostad, Nils Bodin, L.T. Land, Elias Land, Olena Domerude, John Nordenberg, John Einarson, Annie Frostad, and Thomas Thompson.) Pictured to the left are Ada and Nellie Frostad in 1908.

Lutheran World Relief (LWR) distributed its first quilts in 1945 to families in war-torn Europe following the Second World War. Within a decade, the ministry was reaching around the globe to villages far removed from the world’s attention. Today, an average of 300,000 quilts are lovingly given worldwide each year. Quilts can be used as warm bedding, simple tents, or floor coverings.

LWR Mission Quilts are highly regarded throughout the World because of their quality and consistency.
